Why There's A Need To Revive Delhi's Nightlife

Posted at February 5th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in Entertainment, Featured, Grapevine, Nightlife

There was a time when if you’re out partying at night, then there was no question of coming home before 3 or 4 AM. Delhi had a vibrant, club-hopping, all-night scene, with party spots spread out all over NCR. There were even clubs like Elevate in Noida that started a breakfast buffet for the patrons staying till the wee morning hours.

Going to these clubs is not easy on the pocket, and since Delhi roads are now deserted by the time you leave to go back home, safety becomes an issue.

There are a host of cafes and lounges that have popped up in party hubs like Hauz Khas Village and Khan Market that host fun, music-oriented events which people now prefer to go to. Often, if you go out on a Friday or Saturday night, you would expect that the club scene would be raving, but off late, no matter when you go, unless there is a special event happening, the crowd is dwindling at clubs.

Lounges and Cafe’s like Out of the Box and Social offer decently priced and interesting menus and exciting musical performances. They keep organizing events and fests to keep people coming back. Because of the legal restrictions of staying open past 1 am, these events start early and you can literally be back home before 2AM. It’s more convenient and also less expensive to frequent places like this.

Feature-Image1.jpeg1As much as we love these chill, relatively early scenes, there is something to be said for a city that parties till morning. Metropolitans like Mumbai never sleep and it’s exciting to be out, painting the town red, without having to resort to a super-expensive standalone club or a private party.

Whether the problem is safety, or governmental restriction, Delhi needs to work on having a better nightlife scene. What do you think we can do?
