Posted at April 26th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in

On the 21st of April, 2016, the world lost a legend of the music industry, Prince. As everyone mourned this loss, so did the EDM industry and a lot of artists payed tributes to the icon. The second weekend of Coachella took place on the weekend and artists like Sufjan Stevens, GallantLCD Soundsystem, and Joey Bada$$ set aside time from their sets to honour him.

One of the most amazing tributes was by Major Lazer and collaborator Usher. Towards the end of Major Lazer’s set, in a surprise addition, Usher came on stage and performed Prince’s “1999” and “I Would Die 4 U”, ending it with a heartfelt dedication. Jack Ü ended their set with Ellie Goulding singing a soulful rendition of Prince’s “When Doves Cry.”

Check out the Usher and Major Lazer tribute below, and as the world bleeds purple, Prince lives on.
