Gilroy Garlic Festival

Gilroy festival is popular for great garlicky food and live cooking competitions. From garlic chocolate to garlic ice cream to garlic-laced calamari, the festival adds garlic flavour to anything you can imagine. You’ll also find live entertainment on three stages, arts & crafts, wine tasting, and a fun Children’s Area too.

Combine a love of food with a love of music and you get Grillstock! The festival is a magical place where hot dog eating contests, the best on BBQ food, craft beer and live music all come together.

Battle Of Oranges, Italy

Every year the ancient town of Ivrea in Italy stockpiles 500,000 kilograms of fresh oranges for Battle of the Oranges, a re-creation of a historic fight between townsfolk and a ruling tyrant.  It’s a  a full-on fruit war!

Galway Oyster Festival, Ireland


When: 23rd to 25th September

This is the oldest oyster festival in the world and attracts masses of serious shellfish lovers around the world. The festival also features a seafood trail.

Oktoberfest, Germany

When: 17th September to 3rd October

The world’s greatest celebration of beer Oktoberfest attracts more than 6 million people from around the world. The 16-day festival also features a mixture of attractions, such as amusement rides, sidestalls and games, as well as a wide variety of traditional food ranging from bratwurst to pretzels and roasted meats.

When: 28th October to 1st November

Chocoholics’ paradise! This the the world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate. The event features over 220 chocolatiers, pastry chef and confectioners who treat the attendees to cooking demonstrations, a chocolate marketplace and even a fashion show featuring clothes made entirely from chocolate.
