T-Series is one of the most prominent music labels in the country and they’ve recently launched their biggest music project ‘Mixtape,’ presented by Kings and  powered by Saavn. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mixtape is one mighty musical treat which unites 26 well-known singers giving a fresh take to old songs with an acoustic arrangement of music. Spread over 17 episodes, each episode will witness a lively duet and solo performances on mix of all time favourite Bollywood songs.

Director, Brand & Communications, of Saavn, Meetal Shah talks about the collaboration; “Saavn has always been committed in supporting great music and talented artists who are looking to transcend genres. The idea of T-Series Mixtape is to reintroduce new, creative sounds to our listeners with a fresh approach that they haven’t experienced before.”

Spreading over 17 episodes, each will witness a lively duet and solo performances with mixes of all time favourite Bollywood songs. T-series Mixtape represents the amalgamation of melodious music like famous Bollywood love anthems, heart touching traditional harmonies, modern dance numbers, and much more. Bringing alive the magic of 26 musicians performing a mix of two songs in their original avatar, Mixtape prides itself on providing a musical platform, which bridges barriers and celebrates diversity.

Expressing his excitement, T-Series MD & Chairman Bhushan Kumar said, “Digital is a great platform to work with these days as it gives everyone first hand connect . Having such a massive catalogue of songs, we always wanted to do something on these lines. We are delighted that Mixtape is finally coming to life with such great talent from the Industry.”

The huge line-up of 26 singers this season includes Shreya Ghoshal, Shaan, Tulsi Kumar, Jubin Nautiyal, Neha Kakkar, Ayushman Khurana, Armaan Malik, Aditi Singh, Hardy Sandu, Neeti Mohan, Shirley Setia, Mohammed Irfan, Sreeram Chandra, Kanika Kapoor, Dev Negi, Sukriti Kakar, Nakash Aziz, Harshdeep Kaur, Salim Merchant, Shahid Mallya, Shruti Pathak, Prakriti Kakar, Jonita Gandhi, Aditya Narayan, Palak Muchhal, and Guru Randhawa.

From cassettes to CD’s to digital over the last few years, one thing that has remained constant is the supremacy of T-Series when it comes to music. Backing the same ideology, T-Series Mixtape is an initiative that takes one step further to transcend the magic of performances and create an electrifying experience for the viewers. It premiered on the 15th of June with Neha Kakkar and Mohd Irfan kicking of the first episode on a grand note.

When asked about the response to the episodes released so far, Shivam Chanana and Sonal Chawla from the T-Series management team commented, “Thanks to Mr Bhushan Kumar’s vision and idea so far, the response has been really nice considering we are offering a new concept on rendition of 2 songs-which match lyrically, tempo wise and on other technical aspects. It’s just not a mashup but has a lot of other aspects of combining 2 songs. Mr Kumar’s idea of creating something new and unique with our current catalogue, presenting the songs in a way which does not take away from the originality of the songs but more adds a fresh tone and is sort of a tribute to it.

All our episodes have hit 1 million mark within 24 hours, just like a film song which has actors in it. It is really nice seeing audience accepting singers and giving them so much love and appreciation. These singers are always been behind the scenes being the voice of the actors, but this platform has given a face to their voice and audience is recognising and appreciating their efforts. The entire concept of mixing 2 songs has worked for us after seeing the comments and reviews.”

When talking about the future of the project and scope of expansion into other genres, they said, “This is just the beginning. T-series under the guidance of Mr. Bhushan Kumar has many more properties and seasons in the pipeline. Yes we will plan more such seasons. We would surely like to experiment and work with different ideas, concepts and genres. We are currently ideating on season 2.”

We’re looking forward to the rest of the releases, which already have a high standard to live up to. T-Series will definitely come up with more new and exciting stuff for the next season, so it’ll be interesting to see what this project evolves into. Till then, you can catch all the episodes of their Saavn channel!
