Tropical house music is a subgenre of deep house and has itself grown into one of the most popular genre over the past couple of years. The name of the genre was itself started off as a joke by Thomas Jack. Being the calmer child of electronic dance music, it is composed of tranquil sounds and elements of dancehall. We’ve curated a list of Top 7 Tropical/Chill House Artists you need to start listening to explore the peaceful side of EDM.

Thomas Jack

Thomas Jack is considered the original founder of this genre as he was the one who coined the term ‘Tropical House.’ The 22-year old Australian producer has crafted a batch of addictive remixes and singles since his 2013 debut single ‘Final Speech.’ Don’t forget to check out his latest single ‘Rivers.’

Matoma

Tom Stræte Lagergren aka Matoma is a Norwegian DJ/producer and pianist who has established himself as a staple in the tropical house genre. He garnered attention with his refreshing summer remix of The Notorious B.I.G ft. Ja Rule “Old thing back” in 2014.

 

Felix Jaehn

Felix Jaehn is a German music DJ/Producer who broke into music scene at age 16 and specializes in tech-, deep- & sunny chill house. He rose to fame in 2015 through his impressive remix of Jamaican artist OMI’s song “Cheerleader”. He is currently signed to Universal Music.

Klingande

Cédric Steinmyller aka Klingande is a French tropical house artist who prominently uses the piano and the saxophone in his act. He turned tables in dance music world through the self-released online track “Punga” that eventually made it to the French Singles Chart.

Robin Schulz

German record producer, musician and DJ Robin Schulz has been producing and remixing for the last decade but rose to fame only in 2014 with the release of his remix of Mr. Probz’s ‘Waves.’ His remix even received a nomination for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Schulz’s ability to blend upbeat tropical house sounds with melancholy vocals and funky beats makes him stand out of rest.

Lost Frequencies

Felix Safran De Laet aka. Lost Frequencies rose to fame in 2014 after releasing his original “Are You With Me” which has raised over 18 million plays on SoundCloud. The 22-year-old Belgian DJ has since then performed at biggest of music festivals and made their India debut at Sensation Hyderabad this year.

Kygo

Norwegian DJ/Producer Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll, commonly known by his stage name Kygo, has taken tropical house to a whole new level. He garnered worldwide attention through his remix of Ed Sheeran’s track “I See Fire,” which has received over 33 million plays on SoundCloud and 50 million views on YouTube. He also became the first DJ to ever perform at Nobel Peace Prize Summit.
