Top Music Genres Taking Over Indian Festival Lineups

Posted at May 19th, 2017 | by Yash Vikram Singh | in Entertainment, Featured, Music Festivals

The Dance Music scene is ubiquitous and it’s ever changing. A couple years ago it was completely different and we’re pretty sure it will be on the other side of the scale a couple years from now. And by extension the whole music scene changes faster than ever, people are stumbling upon new genres and accepting them for their sheer brilliance.

It’s diversifying fast out here and we made a list of the 5 genres that we think are taking over or are about to take over the music scene in India. Check them out below.

Future Bass/ Melodic Bass

This is probably at the top of the list. Future Bass is numero uno around the world as the dance music circuit reels from divulging in years of House music. India is probably one of those countries where house music flourished the most and stayed longer. Future Bass is a big deal already.

Hard Trap & Even Harder Dubstep

Trap in general is turning heads and conquering the dance music space but with artists like Slander, Carnage, Habstrakt & Kayzo hitting up this side of the ocean the country is getting it’s taste of the hard trap wave. It’s growing bigger and this year is going to be sick for peeps who’re already a slave to their inner Hard Trap aggression.

Deep House & Bass House

Both are sister genres that are not very far from each other on the dance music genre scale. The one thing every deep house & bass house track has in common is the way it makes you groove. People are finally taking notice and basking upon it’s brilliance.

Techno has been here since forever but this past year it seems like it’s finally turning and gaining momentum. A ton of gigs are taking place now more than ever. Even Boiler Room has been hosted by 3 cities in the last 6 months.

For the rest of the world, Hip-Hop is nothing new it’s been going at full capacity at every major festival in the world. But down here in the land of cows it never really found it’s groove. It’s been a bit of a sleeping giant for the past years but it seems like it’s time for change now. Macklemore took the first step at Vh1 supersonic last year and it set an awesome precedent with people who’ve worked in the Hip-Hop circuit like Justin Bieber & Lil John following through.
