The Yay and Nay at American Music Awards 2015!

Posted at November 26th, 2015 | by Nikita Arora | in

The 2015 beta version of the ever existing American Music Awards graced their presence at Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, California on 22nd November’ 2015 with splashy presenters and surprising performances one lined up after another. The ostentatiously impressive extravaganza had blockbuster performances to its kitty. From One Direction bagging the Artist of the year award to Pitch Perfect 2 being the favorite soundtrack, here is a summary of what gets a thumbs up and what went a show down at the AMAs 2015!

Best Performances from AMAs 2015:

Go Gomez Go!

Tuxedo Male Dancers and dazzling Selena Gomez was nothing less than a visual pleasure. She raised the toast for the night with ‘Same Old Night’ but in an altered version with fireballs and disco balls in the background creating a look somewhat similar to Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes.

Gomez

Pray For Paris by Celine Dion

A speech for world peace followed by Édith Piaf’s beautiful composition ‘Hymne à L’amou’ was mesmerizing as ever by Celine Dion. The performance was the star show of the night and portrayed a strong message across a platform that reaches millions of people. Well done!

Celine Dion

The Hills by The Weekend

A fire backdrop on the stage flames the perfect feel of ‘The Hills’ performed by ‘The Weekend’. The performance grabbed all the limelight with the soothing voice reaching all the fans gathered at the award ceremony. The Weekend also took home AMA for Best Soul/ R&B album for Beauty Behind the Madness.

The Weekend

Splashy Justin Bieber

An impressively well done backdrop , a guitar and casually dressed Justin Bieber does the required lift job to the otherwise mid-way dipping AMA 2015 and the audience is back to track. Justin performed ‘What do you mean’, ‘Where are you now’ and ‘Sorry’ making it big for the night.

Justin

The return of Alanis Morisette

‘You Oughta Know’ by Alanis Morissette was another great hit among the audience at AMA 2015. Popular in 1995, the star made a great comeback at the award ceremony and to say the least, she has still got the spark in her voice.

Austin

Nick Jonas and the three singles

Nick Jonas stole the show by performing three great singles and putting up that he has got the next watch out game strong. A band version of ‘Levels’, piano performance for ‘Chains’ and a choir performance for ‘Jealous’ all three bang on! Way to go!

Nick Jonas

Worst Performances from AMAs 2015:

Jennifer Lopez

The tribal dress was to say the least did all the flop job for Jennifer Lopez and after that the bust movement and that series of blockbusters, Jennifer could not entertain the audience up to the mark and got a below average ranking for the performance.

JLO

Megan Trainor and Charlie Puth

Megan Trainor actually forget she is in 2015 now and is still luring the audience with ‘Like I’m gonna Lose you’ and so she could not entertain well off at AMA 2015. While audience was all getting bored at collaboration of Megan Trainor and Charlie Puth, they added to the misery with a duet for ‘Marvin Gaye’.

Gwen Stefan going Clueless

After Gwen Stefani finished her ‘Used to love you’, half of the audience went clueless as to why is she on stage. Though a great hit 20 year back, Stefan failed to keep the liveliness alive in her performance and failed to impress the audience at the otherwise busting AMA 2015.

Stewani

Yay or Nay, there was no dearth of performances at American Music Awards 2015, yet we give thumbs up to the entire artist who managed to go up to the stage and deliver their best. Here’s hoping for a better version in coming years. Cheers AMA!
