Sam Feldt Discusses Future Tracks & More In An Exclusive G Interview

Posted at July 20th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in

Dutch DJ/Producer Sam Feldt has made quite a name for himself in the music industry in just a few short years. With his upcoming performance at Creamfields UK and a lot more he has a busy year ahead of him. Grapevine caught up with him to ask you few questions about his visit to India, future plans regarding tours, tracks, and albums, and a lot more. Check it out!

G: You came to India last year, played at Sunburn Festival! How was your experience?

SF: It was pretty special. The electronic dance music scene is really starting to go off over there and the crowds are all about the music. What a beautiful part of the world too – I’d love to go back!

G: Is there any Indian artist you have heard before? Any collaborations we can expect?

SF: I’ve heard of a few as I’m always on the lookout for new music for my weekly Heartfeldt radio show. I love the sound that B.R.E.E.D put out there.

G: You’re playing at Creamfields this year, what can we expect from your set there?

SF: I have my live band joining in on the fun with me on stage for my sets, which is exciting. I might test out some new material too. As for surprises you will have to come and see me play 😉

G: Which sub-genre do you think is the future of Electronic Music?

SF: It’s really hard to tell as electronic music is evolving every day; however the genre as a whole won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

G: What do you think about the rise of Tropical house music?

SF: I think it’s great. There is such a craving for this genre at the moment and its becoming more and more popular as the days go by, with even more artists trying their hand at it.

G: What artists influence/ inspire your music?

SF: I have a varied range of influences and inspirations for music. I have a lot of respect for the big guys such as Daft Punk, David Guetta, & The Magician who have really grafted over the years to get to where they are now. I love the Beatles too – would love to collaborate with Paul McCartney one day!

G: In terms of Music, what can we expect from Sam Feldt in the future? Any collaborations/ albums/ singles that we should look forward to?

SF: At the end of the month the club edit of my latest single ‘Summer On You’ ft Wulf alongside Lucas & Steve is out (Friday 22 nd July). I’ve also got new material to release over the coming months so keep your ears to the ground for that.

G: Any plans for an India tour?

SF: Nothing on the horizon just yet, but I’d love to go back!

G: Current Top 3 tracks?

SF: Anything by The Chainsmokers, ‘Shy’ by The Magician feat. Brayton Bowman, ‘Hey Hey’ (Gianni Kosta Remix) by Bynon & Bishop.

G: Current Top 3 artists?

SF: Cheat Codes are smashing it right now. Lucas & Steve are my boys and Michael Calfan is up there too!
