Reliving the time Rock Legend Metallica Performed in India

Posted at March 14th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in

Anyone who is at all involved in the music scene would remember when back in 2011, Heavy metal giant Metallica came to India to perform in Delhi and Bangalore. The Delhi gig got postponed, then cancelled because of security issues and Bangalore was afraid that their gig might get canned as well. Much to the joy of the fans there, the event went off without a hitch. Bangalore had never seen such a turnout for a gig before, with more than 50,000 people showing up to hear Metallica play.

There was fire and fireworks and it was an absolutely incredible night. The heavens opened up and the crowd singing in unison gave everyone goosebumps. It was an electric event and the fans went crazy over the infectious energy of drummer Lars Ulrich, the crazy antics of bassist Robert Trujjilo, and the amazing riffs of lead guitarist Kirk Hammet.

“India has been a life-changing experience for us,” said lead singer James Hetfield. They performed a total of 18 songs in 2 hours and the left the crowd wanting for more. It was a night that Bangalore still remembers and isn’t going to forget anytime soon.

Check out the gig in the video below to relive the awesomeness that happened in India.
