Music Festivals are the land of fun and fabulous people and they are something everyone should attend at least once in a lifetime. Being part of the organism of a music festival will make you open up to new aspects about yourself. If you feel you’re an introvert and music festivals ‘aren’t your scene’, and you wouldn’t know what to do with yourself even though you love music, seriously give it a shot. You’ll be surprised at how well you’ll go with the flow, especially after a couple of times attending. Here are some ways in which music festivals help build your self-confidence.
When you’re part of an audience of hundreds, and the band plays a song that you’ve heard a hundred times and know all the lyrics to, then you won’t be able to help yourself and shout it out with the rest of the crowd. Even if you’ve never sung a tune in front of anyone else ever, you’ll realize that your voice just mingles with the crowd and it’s the best feeling ever to shout with abandon.
Because no one is! Seriously, everyone is too busy having a good time and raving to worry about how you’re dancing. Even if you have the most ridiculous dance steps, people will just applaud and hoot if they notice. Uniqueness is revered at music festival. You’ll fit in no matter what.
Unless you go hide in your tent, it’s impossible that you can spend the whole festival without interacting with anyone else. Even if you don’t go up to people, they will come up to you, even if just to ask you the time or for directions to a stage. Just go with the flow, we’re all friends here. The next time, you won’t be so hesitant to initiate interaction with a new person.
So the first time you attend a music festival you might be sticking to your jeans and t-shirts but soon you’ll realize that you can let the inner hippie or punk goth or raver in you out and wear whatever you want! The whackier the better, and no one will judge you for what you’re wearing! It’s not the regular, mortal world, it’s a special place!
Peace, Love, Unity, & Respect. These are important elements that are the basis of every music festival. People sync up and follow these ideals and treat each other well. Becoming a part of the community that follows PLUR will make you feel more connected to the people around you and thus, more confident about yourself.
