Moby's Musical Memoir 'Porcelain' To Release Soon

Posted at June 11th, 2016 | by Singh Shivani | in Grapevine

A memoir by US music artist Moby is on its way. It is not only an intricate but a detailed description of the author’s tussles in his initial music career but also the narrative of a city, the New York City in the late 80s and the 90s. A struggling DJ and musician before the turn of the century, he had witnessed and endured the penury in the NYC suburbs before making it big with his multi-million- selling album play, in 1999. Instances stating the dark and ugly side of city-life are well accounted for, in his book. From the relentless drug scenes to the gangland to the underdog, Moby’s Porcelain conveys it all.

Our author drew inspiration from a party where during his random ranting sessions on erstwhile New York one of his listeners prompted him to pen down his experiences. There was no second thought given to it. Moby set out to inscribe the music industry and his desperate struggle to make a mark for himself. His genre of music namely, dance/electronic music was not too mainstream back in the day and just when he thought that everything would terminate, play rejuvenated his career.

An exceptional touch is added to the book by the actual compilation of all the songs (music from porcelain) that have been mentioned in the memoir. This collection serves as a bond between the readers and the era of music referred to in the book. These tracks are Moby’s reminiscence of the city he lived in, the New York he was besotted by.

Overall, a good read for Moby & fans and EDM lovers on the whole.
