Lana Del Rey's new album is the best thing that you will hear today

The girl with a big flower over her ear, the puff hairstyle and face-obscuring shades, Lana del rey isn’t made for 20th century and so is her music. Even her main influences are Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Nirvana. Though she herself says “it’s not fashionable to love me” in her latest album’s title track, she still manages to attract a huge fan base.

Her brand new album Honeymoon is nothing like the meaning of the title, yes it involves love but “love”, as Lana sings it sounds like mourning. 14 songs of deep dark side of love with voice so clear and lyrics so personal and precise, it feels like you’re in the official videos. Like you can imagine all the events that she describes in her songs right in your living room. It’s not just music it is a photo album in aural form laden with sepia tone and nostalgia.

The album opens with the title track describing the singer fell in love with a guy “with a history of violence” and luxuriates between dream and reality leading to different escapisms in different tracks. It’s until the 11th track “the blackest day” that Lana brings you down her deep depressed memory lane.

Honeymoon tells us who we are here for and is filled with bitter moments and even worse endings from her telling “Terrence loves you” and she won’t change him for anything to the moments when she becomes hopeless and acknowledges to “God knows I tried” as she considered him her “Religion”. Songs full of emotions to songs like “high by the beach”-“art deco”, she sounds beyond desire, like it’s been so long since she felt anything. But in the end we all like screwed up epics.

In the 14 songs she could take you from a beach to dim lit room of just remorse and pain, with chest so heavy to the head so dizzy. Lana herself says she is a writer first then she is a singer, and we can definitely see that in this album. As lyrics played wonders where music was moving at a pace of a funeral. It feels like the time has just gotten slow with Lana delivering some apocalyptic ecstasy which makes you get into the music so deep but it gets darker when you stopped for a while. All in all the honeymoon is undoubtedly the best album out so far and it might not be for everyone as the last track of this album says “Don’t let me be misunderstood”. The Nina Simone’s “Don’t let me be misunderstood” plays skillfully on her image whom critics love to hate.

She has finally arrived with her album “Honeymoon”.

Though 4 of her 14 songs are out on YouTube which will definitely convince you to buy her album.

Terrence loves you
