Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen aka Laidback Luke, the current 64th ranked Filipino DJ and producer, after much await has finally announced the release of his brand new album, FOCUS. The well renowned DJ who is popular for actually exploiting the capabilities of the CDJs and DJMs used globally and also one of the producers who quite frankly is one among the lot of the DJs who practices the true art of DJing is finally here with his album after a long gap of 13 years.

His last album Electronic Satisfaction in 2002 attracted much attention towards him, a man who has been behind the decks for close to 20 years, has now come out of his production break of over a decade and here he is with his full length album FOCUS featured on his label Mixmash Records.

This album is the result of a personal challenge I set for myself: To make 30 tracks in 30 days. Happy to say I succeeded and my team and I were able to select an album’s worth of tracks! An easy response to this could be: ‘Quality takes time’, but I urge you to have a listen to the album first and then decide

The album features contributions from a range of artistes viz-a-viz Benny Benassi, Trevor Guthrie, D.O.D, GTA, Yellow Claw and several others putting together a combination of genres including an amalgamation of commercial and underground styles.

When Laidback Luke was asked for his thoughts on his brand new album, he states, “What I love about the album is that I can say it’s real,” he continued. “It’s not me selling out and it’s not me staying in old habits. It’s me enjoying my producer time and making tracks that I would both love to listen to and dance to.

Here’s a single from the album called ‘Let It Go’ featuring Trevor Guthrie, a Canadian singer whose voice quite unequivocally sits perfectly for this track. A track whose music revolves around the various emotions that are portrayed by the title of the track itself. Give it a listen.
