India on The Rise: Pianist Hasit Nanda signed on Ultra Records

Posted at March 11th, 2015 | by Kaavyapillai | in Nightlife

Hasit Nanda, a self-taught pianist with a natural talent for original and unique arrangements, found fame covering EDM tracks by artists such as Hardwell, David Guetta and Avicii. Not only did he find fame in the Youtube community but he was recently signed on by Ultra Music for an acoustic remix of Memories by Laidback Luke & Project 46 that they will be using in one of the UMF 2015 Aftermovies. Ultra Music is a North-American record label that boasts artists like Calvin Harris and Above & Beyond to name a few. We finally got a chance to speak to Hasit and get to know more about his journey.

Hasit initially began by covering Bollywood and Pop music but once he was introduced to EDM there was no looking back. He feels that he has an emotional attachment to dance music which he could not find with any other genre of music. He already has an established fan base and the support of several established artists in the industry. His videos have been shared and praised by the biggies of EDM, Afrojack, Hardwell, Zedd, Martin Garrix and the list goes on. He says getting praise from these artists validates his music and gives him the feeling that he is doing something right.

We were curious to know whether he ever imagined getting signed by Ultra and pat comes the reply, “Actually I did. I can even imagine getting bigger things in future – Hard work always pays off, doesn’t it?” Well it certainly has for Hasit and he has lots more to reveal as the year unfolds.

For those who are curious to hear what a piano cover of an EDM track sounds like, head on over to Hasit’s channel to hear the cover of Memories – Laidback Luke and Project 46 before the final remix is out.
