Here's WHY Eric Prydz Album 'Opus' is the Most Enigmatic Album of the Decade

Posted at February 10th, 2016 | by Karan Acharya | in

Following a truly remarkable 2015, Swedish electronic dance music legend Eric Sheridan Prydz had a massive surprise in store for his fans at the very start of the new year. After announcing on Radio show Beats One that he was all set to release this album ‘Opus’ after the span of over 10 years, his fans were driven into a frenzy, brimming with excitement.

On the 5th of February, 2016, as announced, Prydz released the album and the response was phenomenal. What else could one expect from a masterclass musician especially after a gap of 10 odd years. With fans waiting every so patiently and expectations at its peak, ‘Opus’ surely did not disappoint.

The album consisted of 2 disks, containing 19 original tracks, spanning over 125 minutes of the best of Progressive House. The track list too was a well thought of one with the best of old elements as well as new fresh tunes that cater to a wide set of listeners and keep them at the edge of their seats at all times. The rather refreshing and addictive album spoke wonders for itself with some unheard of tunes too and the album graphics are topped with some rich creative designs and ever so appealing visuals.

Tracks Liam and Mija take us down memory lane after having finally been released in an album. The two tracks have often been featured in Prydz sets and with their symphonic beats and vocal additions; the tracks are truly classics and with their introduction into Opus, fans can once again get a chance to listen to these wonders.

The album also features such vocal masterpieces like Generate and Liberate. These timeless tracks as well as the nine minute instrumental Opus, which acts as the icing on the cake for the album, truly show us what the Swede Prydz is capable of.

But the album was not just about a blast from the past, it also features some fascinating new sounds and music elements that were skillfully weaved into his ever so trademark music. Prydz years of involvement in music is perfectly reflected in tracks like Moody Mondays, Som Sas and Floj . Over the span of his career , he has also performed at some of the top clubs and venues around the world and pretty much as an ode to these iconic locations , he released tracks like Trubble, Sunset at Cafe Mambo and Klepht. Also other upbeat progressive songs like Matrix and Eclipse are extremely soothing to the ear.

The second longest track on the album, Oddity brings out an ever so soothing vibe to the album and the track Breathe, that has the vocals by the classic singer Rob Swire himself who has truly worked wonders as well.

The album Opus all in all is a magical creation by the man himself , Eric Prydz and is a perfect indication of his style of music , passion for it and in built talent that he possesses. Do have a listen to this timeless creation of his that is sure to remain one of the top albums ever created in this genre of music.
