GInterview: "Kill The Buzz" Talks About Favourite Artists, Performing in India, & More

Posted at January 11th, 2017 | by Sidhantha Jain | in

We caught up with Kill The Buzz the last time he was in India and asked him some questions about his latest work, upcoming collaborations, favourite artists, India, and more. Check out his candid answers below!

GVO: First and foremost, congratulations on your latest collaboration with TOM SWOON. “ALL THE WAY DOWN” which has been doing really great on the Beatport charts! Would you like to spill some beans about your upcoming tracks?

KTB: Thanks, the collab with Tom Swoon did really well in the Beatport charts and I’m happy to have had the chance to work with Tom Swoon. There’s a lot of new things which I’ve been working on. There might be some tracks coming out without my name on it. They are more pop based / Spotify stream tracks to hit the general audience. I’ve also been working on some Future Bass / Pop kind of projects as well to release under Kill The Buzz and besides that I’ve finished two tracks together with Hardwell and have been working with Thomas Newson & Maddix on collaborations.

GVO: What beat is making its way into your sets at the moment without fail?

KTB: The beat that always keeps the crowd satisfied and which is always in my sets is “We Wanna Party” from Savage & TJR.

GVO: Do you listen to Bollywood music? What are your views on it? If some time in the future you got an offer to produce music for a Bollywood movie, would you accept it?

KTB: I don’t listen to Bollywood music when I’m having my day off, but if I would get the opportunity to produce a track for a Bollywood score I would happily take that opportunity. Music for me is something that I’ve been passionate about in any form and genre. I used to play in a Live band where we would cover music from Toto, Maroon 5 and even James Brown.

GVO: Axwell once said: “If we want money we’ll go to Las Vegas, if we want an after party we’ll go to Miami but if we want to play for love, we still come to India!” How true is this statement for you?

KTB: It’s a statement which is definitely true. I have to say that when playing in Las Vegas you will certainly have a blast, because the crowd there is crazy. But in India you play for true love and passion for the music. You can see the happiness and joy on the facial expressions of the people from India and the energy they give you during a show is nowhere else to be found in the world!

GVO: You’ve played for the Indian audience on multiple occasions, how do you feel dance music has evolved in India?

KTB: India is really into Dance music in a high evolving way. They love the singalongs but when you drop a new track the energy will be even higher!. The more you mix familiar with unfamiliar songs the more crowd pleasing the DJ set will be.

GVO: What’s your favourite memory from past shows in India?

KTB: The World’s Biggest Guest list! Playing in front of 70,000 people with a crazy energy was like looking at an Ocean Wave coming towards you when dropping smasher after smasher. The vibe and the way they liked what Hardwell & I were playing was something that I’ve never seen before.

GVO: How do the shows in India differ from rest of the world?

KTB: Like I said before, the energy in India and the enjoyment they get from Dance music is nowhere else to be found. For some reason they seem to be unstoppable and definitely show their appreciation by giving energy to the show, instead of just watching who’s playing.

GVO: Which artist(s) do you see as your idol?

KTB: Tiesto & Swedish House Mafia.

GVO: If you could remake or remix any one of their tracks, which one would it be and how would you make it Kill the Buzz-y?

KTB: I think their tracks should be untouched, but if I would have to pick one. I would pick Adagio for strings.. I would keep the epic strings break completely the same, but I would give it a more 2016 energetic drop with a groovy and sharp Kill The Buzz sound!

GVO: For anyone who’s not heard your music before, how would you describe it?

KTB: Passionate and full of energy!

GVO: Have you ever watched a Bollywood movie?

KTB: The only two movies that I’ve seen aren’t necessarily Bollywood movies but the story originates from India with main actor Dev Patel. “Slumdog Millionaire” and “The Man Who Knew Infinity.”
