Flashback Through The Grammys: Best Dance Recordings

Posted at March 20th, 2015 | by NikitaBhanu | in Dance Music, Entertainment, Music, Videos

The Grammy awards were started in 1959 and have seen lots of changes as the music industry progresses every decade. Although dance music artists are now being recognized with a bunch of nominations and even awards, the industry maybe has some more growing to do before it can have a group of its own.

A lot of dance music is finally being recognized in the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. Artist Ellyn Harris and her Committee for the Advancement of Dance Music lobbied for over two years to encourage the Academy to acknowledge dance music. In 1998, Harris’ efforts paid off when the Academy first presented the award to Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder at the 40th Grammy Awards for the song “Carry On”.

The category did not disappoint its enthusiasts. Every year since, the nominees have been amazing and completion has gotten tougher. Here’s a quick over look of the winners of the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording from 2010 to 2017.
