Festivals To Look Forward To Before Winter's End

2015 is over but winter is not! The numerous vibrant festivals in the country are yet another reason to travel more this season. Expect music, film, dance and naturally, carnival from 2016. Listed below are the few festivals to look forward to before the summer heat sneaks in!

Stage42 Festival

23rd January – 6th March


Stage42 presents the best in Indian and international comedy, music and entertainment across India. Spread over 6 weekends in Jan-Feb 2016, the festival brings together communities, tastes, cultures, and people to India’s first common platform for the arts. Stage42 will reach audiences in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad in its second edition. Shows span massive arena headliner events, innovative auditorium performances, and explosive club gigs to bring something exciting for absolutely everyone in the region. This is the first festival by Only Much Louder in the year and they will ensure that you have a not so average 2016!

Weirdass Pajama Festival by Vir Das

29th January – 7th February


The Weirdass Pajama Festival 2016, India’s Largest Comedy Festival will be held in 9 cities this year from January 29-February 7. In its third edition, the festival curated by Vir Das hosts a large number of Indian and foreign comedians who will perform in multiple cities over a span of 10 days. The Weirdass Pajama Festival is India’s first comedy festival, which was started in 2014 by Vir Das’ comedy company, Weirdass Comedy.



13th and 14th February


A complete entertainer for the whole brood, U/A is a family festival that will involve 12-14 year old kids, teenagers, their parents, and a multitude of young adults. The festival will host some of the best Indian and international performers in music and comedy, along with a range of intelligent and exciting workshops, activities, and specially crafted physical spaces for the audience to engage in. From workshops like ukulele playing and 3-D Printing to activities such as poi play, hula hoop, slack-lining and nitrogen science labs, UA offers a diverse set of experiences that will appeal to a teenager as much as it will engross an adult. These customized experiences will be followed by live shows by some incredible talent from music and comedy. Presented by Only Much Louder, U/A is India’s first ever-family festival.


Kala Ghoda Arts Festival

February 6-14, 2016


Every year, art and literary lovers from the metropolis of Mumbai are in for a treat as the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is scheduled in the city. Organised by the Kala Ghoda Association, this nine-day festival celebrates and showcases the diverse forms of literary, performance and visual arts that include cinema, theatre, music, dance, literature, paintings, and photography. Thefestival not only promises to bring the innumerable art forms under one roof but also provides a platform for upcoming national and international artists.


February 6-7, 2016


Sula Festival is a celebration of wine and of wine lovers. Set amidst the spectacular Sula Vineyards of Nasik. India’s leading live music performers come on board as festival partners for Sula Festival every year. It is also a culinary expedition amidst incredible music and irresistible wine.

​​Sensation Hyderabad

March 6th


It started as a one time thing in the year 2000, but now it’s become a world wide phenomenon. Sensation is coming to India this year in Hyderabad, and everyone is super excited about the world’s leading dance event. Acrobats, DJ’s, and exotic performers make up this truly glorious event.

The Lost Party

February 26th to 28th 


The second edition of the multi-genre festival The Lost Party is scheduled for February 26-28 – will present fans a handpicked selection of some of the country’s freshest and most exciting talent, alongside established acts from India and around the world, at its new lakeside location in the Sahyadris.


Mumbai Ballard Estate Festival

January 23 – May 2016


The roads of Ballard Estate will come alive with music and art every weekend, starting this Saturday. They already have a stellar lineup of artistes on board, and you can look forward to performances by The Raghu Dixit Project, Nucleya, Nicholson, Bombay Bassment, and more. They also have flea markets, art installations, film screenings, and lots more.
