8 Latest Album & EP Releases by Indian Artists That You Need to Check Out

The number of talented Indian musicians has been increasing over the years and artists have been dabbling with different genres which results in brilliant EP’s and Albums. 2016 is well underway so we bring you a few releases that we think you should check out from the past few months!

 

Kohra

Madhav Shorey goes by the name of Kohra which embodies his hypnotic, grungy sense of music. Percussion sounds and sharp glitches can be heard through his mysterious productions and he performs an amazing live set. Check out his recent EP, Osiris.

 

Run! it’s the Kid

Shantanu Pandit and Dhruv Bhola initiated this project in 2013, eventually adding Danik Ghosh and Bhairav Gupta to the roster. They have gorgeous, dreamy music and they released their full length, self-titled album this year.

 

SickFlip

Sarvesh Shrivastava‘s music is dark, bass heavy, and super unique. His latest EP infuses traditional Indian music with western bass and trap structures along with some Middle Eastern influences. Check it out!

 

Mohit Mukhi

Mohit Mukhi‘s debut album, Running Shoes And A Thousand Dreams is a labour of love which has been worked upon for six years. It features collaborations with stellar musicians such as Sanjay Divecha, Sonu Sangameshwaran, Kenneth Rebello, Vinay Lobo and Heather Andrews among others. The album is traces Mohit’s personal journey and is a wonderful soundscape.

 

NDS

Siddharth Sharma pursues his musical exploration journey via his solo project NDS. The up-and-coming producer has been doing some experimenting with sounds and has finally released his first EP as NDS. Titled ‘Be Yourself’, the 2-track EP marks a new milestone for the DJ/producer.

 

Perfectiming

Sanaya Ardeshir (Sandunes) has been working with Kolkata based drummer and producer Jivraj Singh (Jiver) on their combined project called Perfectiming and they recently released their self-titled EP, comprising of 4 dynamic tracks. Their work is electronic mixed with instruments and it’s a unique undertaking.

 

Your Chin

The solo project of Raxit Tewari, Your Chin has been buzzing in the Indian indie scene since he released an EP in 2012. His music is danceable lively electro pop sound layered with muddy beats that lend his seemingly indecipherable urban lyrics a joyful complexity. Check out his recent LP, Peeping Till It’s Noise.

 

Parvaaz

A Bangalore based band with a profound sound, Parvaaz produces a psychedelic mix of blues and rock, with Hindi and Urdu poetry as lyrics. Their latest 7 track album Baran is definitely worth checking out!
