Diplo Talks About India, Says It's His Reason for Success

Diplo has always talked fondly about India, and he’s previously shared touching stories about his time here. He’s travelled through the country quite extensively, and spent a few months soaking it all in. Revisit his heartfelt post below.

So we caught a really cool snippet of Diplo on one of the latest Major Lazer sets. On their Lazer Sound 10 (Beats 1) after 57 minutes, Diplo talks about being back in India for their second Major Lazer tour, living in Paharganj, Delhi in his twenties, which he describes as the hippie backpacker-y area. He brought a motorcycle, learnt how to avoid cattle and rode dirty. Diplo travelled all across the country from Calcutta to Gujarat, worked for outreach programs, and made some music. To fund his trips, he would buy crazy old Indian records for a couple of rupees and sell them abroad for 100-200 dollars! He thinks India is an emerging market and if people want to be successful they should come here! He even gave a shoutout to Reggae Rajahs and Nucleya for their music!
