Delhi Restaurants & Bars To Get 24/7 License Soon

Finally the capital has something to rejoice about. In a new proposal for Excise Policy, Delhi govt. has proposed to open restaurants & bars 24/7.

“The policy will come into effect subject to Cabinet approval. It proposes slashing the annual 24-hour excise licence fees by 45 to 60 per cent for restaurants and bars inside hotels. Along with slashing the fee, the policy also proposes doing away with prerequisites for a 24-hour excise licence, to serve alcohol in restaurants, such as a tourism licence, police registration and fire clearance” – as quoted by Indian Express.

Although the 24hours licenses are still available but they come at a cost of 40 lakh per annum for 7 star hotels, 30 lakh for 5 star & 20 lakh for motels. which is too much to bear for a lot of hotels.

The new policy envisages a fee of Rs 12.60 lakh for seven-star restaurants of less than 75 seating capacity and Rs 16.80 lakh for seating capacity above 75.

Lets hope the cabinet passes the bill soon and Delhi gets back its lost charm.
