You wouldn’t have to travel all the way to Gurgaon or Greater Noida to attend the concert of your favorite artist anymore. Yes, its a dream come true for Delhiites. For years all major performances by national or international artists have been happening in Gurgaon or Noida due to Delhi’s lopsided clearance system for hosting events. But now Delhi Goverment have given music fans much to cheer about by implementing the single-window clearance system for events, a first in India.

Delhi’s tourism minister Kapil Mishra announced that AR Rahman would be coming to Dwarka, Delhi to perform at the NH7 Weekender music festival (which has so far been held in Greater Noida). Weekender was the second major event to get single-window clearance after Zubin Mehta’s recent concert at JLN Stadium in Delhi.

We have streamlined the process of holding events in Delhi. We are creating an atmosphere of holding big events in Delhi, which wasn’t possible earlier. Pehle Gurgaon, Noida ya kisi aur jagah hote thay event. Now we have decided to host big events here in Delhi in partnership with the private industry. It will be after many years that AR Rahman will be performing here.” Kapil Mishra

And now adding to the list is Sunburn Arena featuring Afrojack. Taking place for the first time in Delhi, Sunburn Arena is scheduled for 4th of December at Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
