10 Labels Dance Music Fans Should Be Excited About this year

We all might be aware of such big labels as Armada, Spinnin’, Revealed and more but there’s a large chunk of EDM enthusiasts who have no clue where to find the best of non-commercial dance music. For those, we’ve compiled a list of top 10 labels which provided us with the best of 2015 and are looking BIG in 2016.


Top Billin Music 




Top Billin was born in Helsinki, Finland. In 2006 Top Billin made themselves a household name in Helsinki with bootleg remixes, hot mixtapes and a monthly club night that was packed every single time from the beginning.Top Billin has grown into a smoothly running record label with a big back catalogue with artists ranging from US to Chile to Russia to Japan and beyond.  Major releases include Clubbrock’s Act A Fool and Paul Oja’s Superuntitled EP and stellar compilations like Trekkie Trax Japan Vol. 2. They like to keep their music up-to-date and cutting-edge, both in the shows they play and the records they put out.

Slime Recordings



Garage music has its undisputed home in Britain and its game have been going strong for many years now. From its inception at the start of this decade, Slime has strived to bring you the very best in forward-thinking electronic music, designed as much for your own headspace as it is for the dancefloor. It’s best compilation series around the last year was – Future Sound Of Garage. Till now it has shown no signs of slowing down or selling out and we hope that 2016 brings with it an another year of garagy greatness.

Next wave Records



Next Wave Records, originating from Los Angeles, with their recognizable wave logo, has been one of the fastest growing bands. It has a considerable lineup of talented and unique artists like Bearson, Atlas Bound, Jerry Folk, Rambo V. Louis The Child, who is one of the younger artist made a big score with one of last year’s greatest hits “It’s Strange” which was listed in the Billboard top 100 and even landed in the latest FIFA soundtrack. Their artists are one of the most talented up-and-comers in the electronic dance music scene.

Hyperdub is a London-based record label which was formerly known as ‘webzine’. It was started over a decade ago by dub legend Steve Goodman aka Kode9. it delivers the mix of hip hop, ambient, breakbeat, and super fast IDM rhythms. It has featured releases from veteran acts like Burial and the late, great DJ Rashad. Since 2004 Hyperdub continues to amaze us and promises a great deal of dark bass music in 2016.

Stones Throw



Stone’s Throw is an independent music label hailing from Los Angeles. It was founded by world renowned DJ Peanut Butter Wolf. Over the years it has consistently released critically acclaimed albums across a variety of genres. It is considered as one of the leading names in underground hip-hop circles. The rhymes of Guilty Simpson and White Boiz has made an impact on all electronic dance music lovers. The experimental works of Knwledge and James Pants has succeeded in making a mark in the history of this music label. 2016 is definitely Stone’s Throw’s year of opportunities.

MalLabel Music

Mallabel Music is a label based in San Francisco and is a best source for alternative bass music. It has amassed dozens of Beatport Top 10 and Top 20 Dubstep, Glitch Hop, and Hip Hop releases and critical acclaim in Complex, Urb and Vibe magazines, it’s signature west coast flavor is achieving swift and legit international appeal. It has featured one of the most talented and diverse artist portfolio in the industry  like Nas’Ja, My Pet Monster, Muppet Punk, Minnesota, G Jones, and Mimosa. And after hearing their first release of the year from the artist Psy Fi, there’s no looking back for this label.

HW&W Recordings



It is an independent record label operating from LA and Toronto and was born in 2011. It has gained expertise in the independent hip hop and future bass. They released a satisfying handful of alternative rap, trip hop, and chill out tunes along with the HW&W mix series. It featured a mixture of different new-coming artists like Pomo, Sweater Beats, Potatohead People, and label founders Tek.lun and DrewsThatDude.

Yet another label based from LA, it was started by Kastle in 2012 and since then it has been
Cultivating and breaking new sounds through musical evolution. It has been honoured by emerging artists like Vindata, Lindsay Lowend, and Falcons who dropping incredibly original, forward thinking dance beats on the label. Experimentation has helped Symbols to gain an unique identity in electronic dance music industry.

Night Bass Records



Based in US, this record label was evolved from a monthly clubnight series by which was started by AC Slater. As remarked, he is the king of fidget house. His love for music is displayed by Night Bass as it’s releases follow his usually hyphy, wompy basslines and quick, snappy pace. It has a huge lineup of releases from the top in the music industry like Destructo, Jack Beats, Jay Robinson, Gotsome, Bot, Tony Quattro, Vanilla Ace, and even Wakka Flocka. It has been described by LA weekly as ‘The Most Exciting New Dance Party in the City’.

The last record label also hails from LA. It was created in 2008 by Flying Lotus. It has signed superstars of music industry such as Ras G, Samiyam, The Gaslamp Killer, Thundercat, The Underachievers, Lapalux, Daedelus, and Mr. Oizo. Regulars like Daedelus, Lapalux, and Thundercat each spin their own unique blend of glitchy, funky, dubby, spacey, trippy beats.  As FlyLo is expected to release another LP this year, with his collab with Kendrick Lamar nominated for a Grammy. Seeing the achievements, Brainfeeder has a long way to go.
