Check Out the Best Surprise Guests at Coachella 2016

Posted at April 28th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in

The two weekends of Coachella this year were full of amazing sets and even better surprise acts introduced during the pre-decided lineup. From multiple appearances by Kanye West to Usher coming in during a Jack Ü set for a Prince tribute, here are 10 of the best surprise guest performances at Coachella 2016.

Usher @ Major Lazer

Towards the end of Major Lazer’s set, in a surprise addition, Usher came on stage and performed Prince’s “1999” and “I Would Die 4 U”, ending it with a heartfelt dedication.

Third Eye Blind @ The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers had possibly the best set at Coachella this year and no one could have imagined it when they introduced Third Eye Blind on stage. Check out their aftermovie!

Kanye West @ Jack Ü

Kanye was a big surprise and he actually made 2 appearances; once during A$AP Rocky‘s set but there some technical issues, and just hours later to perform “Power” during Jack Ü‘s set.

Sam Smith @ Disclosure

Disclosure brought on Sam Smith to perform a few tracks including their amazing collaboration of ‘Latch‘.

Kesha @ Zedd

Kesha has been making headlines because of her legal battles and it was great seeing her back in her element with Zedd on stage for the song “True Colors”.

Angus Young @ AC/DC

The Guns N’ Roses reunion was a really big deal with Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff performing together after so long. The real surprise was when AC/DC’s guitarist Angus Young accompanied them for a few tunes.

Rihanna @ Calvin Harris

Rihanna was a big surprise and she gave a great performance with Calvin by performing her hit song “We Found Love,” which they had released in 2011.

Seal @ Gallant

Seal kicked off with a performance of Gallant’s breakout hit, “Weight in Gold,” as Gallant danced around and the crowd gave Seal a warm Coachella reception.

Lorde @ Disclosure

Disclosure brought on Lorde as well and they performed a live rendition of “Magnets” which is their hit collaboration.

Jaden Smith @ Lido

Most artists perform really popular songs but Jaden introduced a brand new track during Lido’s set. His rap was explosive and immediately set social media on the hunt for a full-length video of the performance.
