The music industry is buzzing after Swedish producer Avicii announced his retirement from touring and a lot of artists like DeadMau5 and Steve Angello posted their reactions on twitter. Now amongst the support and sadness, there is also quite a bit of money to be made with the last tours and more. BBC Worldwide, a subsidiary of BBC, one of the biggest broadcasters in the world has acquired the rights to Avicii‘s music documentary ‘Stories‘. Avicii will be attending MIPTV in Cannes next month to launch the 1 x 60’ film.

The film is still a work in progress and will be formed of Avicii’s life and experiences since the time when he was posting tracks online to releasing his debut album in 2013 and becoming a chart-topping success. The documentary will cover his year long illness, his career highlights, and everything in between. The director of music at BBC Worldwide, Salim Mukaddam said, “Avicii redefined the boundaries of contemporary dance music with his debut album. His hits have gone gold and platinum in 25 countries, but little is known about the man behind the music. This film promises to give fans and music lovers an insight into the unbelievable world of a superstar artist, from the highs of playing to packed stadiums around the world to the lows of illness and struggling to get back to the stage. We are very excited to see the finished project later this year.”
