Bangalore Is Getting It's Own Music Festival & The Lineup Includes Dyro, Otto Knows, & More

Industry heavyweight Nikhil Chinapa just put up a long status update regarding a brand new music festival in Bangalore. #FiveSixZero‘s first edition is on the 10th of September and has an amazing lineup. Dyro, Otto Knows, Albin Myers, Rohit Barker, and of course Nikhil Chinapa are all confirmed for the event. We think Dyro might be planning an India tour around these dates as there was some speculation before.

I also have a few thoughts about this event. I’ve had a chat with the team behind FiveSixZero and all of us are aware of how dependant on Guestlists and free tickets our music events have become. (“Bro, just me plus 9 brooo.”).

The #FiveSixZero team and I have agreed that with this event, we’ve got to make a change – for ourselves and for our music scene. Music cannot be disposable and so worthless that as a fan, we aren’t willing to spend anything on a ticket to enjoy it. We watch movies, buy tshirts, eat at restaurants – but never ask for freebies there – so why do we expect (some actually demand it) at music events?

Maybe we’ve been spoilt with Bangalore’s famous Guestlist culture. But lets be clear, it’s a culture that’s destroying our scene. You wanna know why so many international artists skipped Bangalore in the past? Because we aren’t willing to spend on a ticket… and just because we refuse to buy a ticket, it doesn’t mean the international artist accepts lower fees. The fees stay the same and gigs have simply become financially unviable – and very soon, they’ll disappear altogether.

So with #FiveSixZero, we’re taking a stand. No freebies, no Guestlists. The early bird ticket costs just 800 rupees, and with it you get coupons worth Rs. 500, which you can redeem at the bar and at food counters. WHICH MEANS YOUR TICKET COSTS YOU JUST Rs 300.. and if you’re not willing to cough that up for the lineup you see below, then you’re probably a fan of some other kind of music and will just stay home anyway.

So please, if you’re a fan – do your bit and support the music scene. Buy a ticket. Also don’t forget, the early bird tickets are limited and will sell out super soon. You’ve probably heard that before, but this time – I know they will. So if you want a great deal for this festival, grab it now. Prices will go up later.”
