Acoustic Versions Of Famous EDM Tracks

We have gathered a list of exemplary tracks that have not only stood out as great songs in their own light but also as powerful as re-imagined acoustic versions. As a pleasant surprise, unplugged covers aren’t just meant for old coffee houses.

P.S. The songs chosen are either entirely acoustic or dominated majorly by acoustic instrumentation.

  1. Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child feat. John Martin

Swedish House Mafia’s sixth and final single was an instant smash upon its release. The acoustic version of the song shifts the basic tone from soulful to yearning. John Martin’s vocals received positive reviews on the original track and this version perfectly accentuates his voice.

  1. Hardwell – Apollo feat. Amba Shepherd

“Apollo” is one of the best works of the Revealed Recording’s boss ever released and its acoustic version featured on ‘I AM HARDWELL’ OST. Amba Shepherd’s supernatural and sexy voice set in a non-electronic piano framework is like a match made in heaven.

  1. Pendulum – Watercolour

Krewella did a cover of this deluxe Drum and Bass track in honour of Pendulum’s album, Immersion. The stripped down version features Jahan and Yasmine’s amazing voices performing the warm lyrics on this but they also brought in Evan Duffy for some help to make it epic-er. It goes without saying that you need to download this one, it’s free, let it play and let your emotions take over.

  1. Avicii – Wake Me Up

Avicii is famous for breaking genre boundaries with his country influenced house anthems and “Wake Me Up” is no different. R&B singer Aloe Blacc adds yet another dimension of soul to the song on its ‘Non-EDM’ version.

  1. Zedd – Clarity feat. Foxes

Zedd gained mainstream success with this progressive house track. On the acoustic version of “Clarity”, Zedd recreates the studio magic of the original with real instruments and some electronic synth. Foxes leads the vocals on the track with Matthew Koma beautifully complimenting her celestial voice.

  1. Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love

Ellie Goulding made a live acoustic cover of the Calvin Harris produced electro-anthem into a delicate ballad that highlights her distinctive vocals. Accompanied by only a guitar and a piano, Ellie came out with a more intimate version and tells a much different story than the original, making the two versions incomparable.

  1. Avicii vs Nicky Romero – I Could Be The One

Well, yet another commercial house smash hit has been slowed down and converted into a melodic acoustic track with female vocals. This time Avicii and Nicky Romero have released their track ‘I Could Be The One’, as an acoustic song and have proved that their sheer talent is not limited to only electro beats and big-room drops.

  1. Armin van Buuren – This Is What It Feels Like feat. Trevor Guthrie (John Ewbank Classical Remix)

Canadian singer Trevor Guthrie provided vocals on Armin van Buuren’s ‘This Is What It Feels Like’ and the collaboration ended up in a Grammy nomination. The skilled vocalist shows his many talents in an extraordinary relay of the Classical Remix of the worldwide hit!

  1. Alesso – Years feat. Matthew Koma

The original version of the song with Alesso is a massively soaring dance floor romp, but on this new rendition Matthew Koma strips away all the EDM elements to emphasize the song’s powerful emotional core and bittersweet gloom that lingers throughout the track.

  1. Krewella – Alive

Krewella rose to fame with their monstrous dubstep productions and ‘Alive’ by all standards was their most successful single. The ex-trio released its bare version on YouTube and nearly broke the internet. The initial version’s tempo was slowed down, Yousaf sisters performed the vocals in their celestial voices, while Rain Man provided the instrumental on his guitar, transforming the original track into something completely different!
