A-cappella Groups That Will Blow Your Mind

A-cappella music is a wonder in itself as it’s amazing that people can make such sounds entirely from their mouths while some of us can hardly string a sentence together. These a-cappella groups perform so well that you don’t even feel the need for instruments. Check out these 7 groups from India and abroad that make magic from their mouths!

Pentatonix

Pentatonix is easily the biggest name in the a-cappella world right now and they can boast about 5.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Every one of their covers has more than a million views and they’ve proven time and again why they’re the best in the field.

Penn Masala

Penn Masala is formed of a group of students at the University of Pennsylvania who’ve taken a unique outlook at a cappella by fusing together latest Western music and the best of South Asian sounds. They have multiple full length albums and over the years have been honoured to perform for President Obama, Sachin Tendulkar, Lakshmi Niwas Mittal, and theAmbani family. They’ve done over 100+ performances and also tour across the U.S. regularly. Their music was even featured in ‘Pitch Perfect 2‘, a popular Hollywood film.

Kings Road

Chris Etscheid, David Marenberg, and Kris Fitzgerald cover everything from EDM to crunchy country songs. They often mashup different songs and create their own cute videos and tracks.

Exit 245

James Madison University‘s Exit 245 is a 14 member, all male group and this act is reminiscent of the charm of One Direction. They deliver cinematic music videos with emotionally jarring renditions of popular tracks.

Gentleman’s Rule

Gentleman’s Rule is a Chicago based group poised to be a sensation. They aired their own special on PBS, have performed with country stars and done nationwide tours.

Noteworthy

Noteworthy is formed by only ladies of BYU. They are smooth and subtle and have an almost glitch up production and style. They’ve covered and mashed up plenty of popular tracks and received a lot of recognition.

Voctronica

Voctronica is India’s first all-vocal ensemble consisting of Arjun, Avinash, Clyde, Raj and Warsha. Here is a Voctronica style medley that will take you through the musical experience that is is A. R. Rahman – the ‘Evolution of A. R. Rahman’.
