8 Best Alternatives To Apple Music

Posted at March 20th, 2016 | by Sidhantha Jain | in

A decade and a half ago, Steve Jobs revolutionized the way we listen to music with the iPod and iTunes. Even though Apple has always been the frontrunner in the tech world, iOS has oftentimes lacked behind in a few areas when it comes to application accessibility and features. One such item is the stock music app which even though received a massive makeover with the latest software update, adding numerous elements like the Radio, on the downside, the same additions made it heavier, difficult to use and slower on certain models. If you’re one of those peeps looking for a new music experience go through the following list and find yourself a suitable alternative!
There are plenty of other music player apps available on the app store but these are our top picks. Feel free to contribute with your choices via comments.

Beat finds a place here because it is arguably the most attractive player we’ve come across! The interface is minimalist and to change songs you’ve got swipe controls for easy usage. It also lets you share what you’re listening to on Twitter and Facebook.

This music player works around a string-y interface which shows current playlist on a string, and you can shake the phone to alter your playlist. You can drag songs to the string to add them to queue and drag them out to find related albums giving a continuous playback in the background with a seamless access through the Control Center

Listen shows a neat album view with one big circle with the art, and a seek bar that borders the circle. Tap and hold this circle to play music and perform other functions. It’s highly recommended if you use your iPhone with a cable or an aux wire while driving.

Talking about the design, Ecoute is pretty simple and easy to use. It enables you to control music via gestures, sync with your social media profiles, and has advanced play controls. The only con is, you’ll have to shell out INR 60.

The only reason it finds a place on this list is because can automatically sort your favorite music and suggest a wide variety of mixes based on your listening habits. Groove also uses smart gestures and downloads missing album artwork on its own without any hassle.

While most would categorize Musixmatch as a lyrics finder, it also is a powerful player. Honestly, it doesn’t host a ton of hi-fi features other than letting you sing the correct lyrics, it can identify songs at single tap.

Marvis Music Player

Like every other mention above, this app also contains customizable themes and easy control options but it also comes with iPad Pro Support, custom background tint and lag free playback other general improvements over the stock app. Unfortunately it is ad supported.

The first thing about in:play that you’d notice is the metro theme of Windows Phone. It facilitates quickplaylist, flick actions and extremely fast performance with iCloud integration. The USP of this free application is, it doesn’t add any bulk to the phone’s memory and gives an option to choose between a day or night theme!
