5 Artists You Need to add to your Playlist NOW

The feeling when you come across a new artist and just can’t get enough of him/her is probably the best feeling in the world. So here are 5 artists among many who will make you feel light-headed, happy and sad all at the same time.

They are redefining music as we know it. Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself.

1. St. Vincent

Annie Clark, better known by her stage name “St. Vincent” is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose latest self-titled album won her, her first GRAMMY in the best alternative album category. Early in her career, she has opened shows for The Black Keys, Death Cab For Cutie. She has gotten a lot of critical acclaim for her distinct musical style, which blends soft rock, jazz and cabaret influences. She describes her lyrics as balancing between “happiness and madness.”

2. Broods

This musical duo is from New Zealand, with the lead vocals by Georgia Nott and her older brother Caleb Nott who is a multi instrumentalist and contributes towards the backup vocals.
Their first single “Bridges” released in January 2014. Bridges, an amazing indie- pop song consisting of dreamy and airy vocals by Georgia Nott and wonderful lyrics. At the end of the first chorus, the sudden explosion of beats makes you feel light-headed, and it’s the song you hear when you want to go on a long drive. Their debut album “Evergreen” is a step up for them and a must listen for all the indie-pop fans out there.

3. James Bay

Ah, this English singer-songwriter also known as James ‘BAE’ by his fans, and has been claimed to be the next big thing. His debut studio album, “Chaos and the Calm” an acoustic powerhouse, is bursting with desire, courage, excitement, love, loneliness and heartbreak. James Bay definitely is not a household name yet, but is on his way to become much more than that.

4. Jack Garratt

London based singer/producer, multi-instrumentalist Jack Garratt combines electric guitar, drum machines and a strong influence from R&B. With his first single “I Couldn’t Want You Anyway” released in early 2014, he made waves in the U.K. His second EP explores electronic soundscapes with an emotional depth and well if you are into that kind of thing (who isn’t?) this artist is a must listen for you.

5. Goldlink

Save the best for last? That might be the case here. The interesting thing about this artist is that no one knows who he really is. Yes, you read that right. The 21 year old rapper is anonymous, just a name and some music. Some GREAT music. Goldlink’s debut album draws inspiration from everything from soul to house. The album is a complex work, moving from light to dark in an instant, he likes to call his music “The Future Bounce”. I feel like this is one artist we definitely need to look out for.
