13 Must-Visit Unique Clubs Around The World

Posted at September 9th, 2015 | by Sidhantha Jain | in

The following isn’t a regular list you’ll come across on any music centred or lifestyle based magazine. Names mentioned below from ‘round the world are unique in their very own sense, which others are struggling to be at par with, forget about surpassing their standards.

P.S. They’re listed in no specific order.

Privilege, Spain (Unique Production)

‘Cause of its monstrous size, one cannot view all of ‘Privilege, Ibiza’ at once, as a fraction of it opens for all the nights. Only the biggest parties like Tiesto’s ‘ClubLife’ or Armin Van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance’ witness the 30,000 square feet nightclub operate in its full glory. Ibiza has always been known as a party capital of the world and Privilege has helped improve its ranking ever since it was incorporated. On a busy night, some-what 10,000 people can order their drinks from 16 lavish bars and enjoy the extravagant celebration at a special viewing dome, gigantic swimming pool, a beautiful garden and, of course a A-1 dance floor! With amazing erotic and artistic shows, it attracts a ridiculous amount of tourists from everywhere making Ibiza a truly unique place.

Pacha, Spain (Unique Music)

It probably won’t come as a shock to most as another nightclub on this list belongs to the fabulous island of Ibiza! Pacha hosts the world’s biggest DJ performances you can ever attend. The discotheque has five rooms playing multiple musical genres but it’s the legendary main room in the limelight, which alone could fit the other clubs inside it! The elevated DJ booth, overlooking the dance floor has seen superstar EDM-celebrities ranging from Pete Tong to the Swedish House Mafia spin for jam-packed crowds. The venue also has a song to its credit, by James Blunt titled “1973.” Pacha also organises the annual DJ Awards every September.

Subsix, Maldives (Unique Location)

The Maldives entered the race of ‘must visit party venues’ in 2012, when Subsix debuted as the world’s first underwater nightclub, boasting one of a kind experience to club-goers. The lounge is located near the Dhaalu Atoll Shore, about 20 feet underwater in the Indian Ocean; and requires a speedboat ride before you descend into the life-size aquarium. The coral themed interior feels like a replica of the natural hydrosphere which is separated by a floor-to-ceiling glass. The management organizes everything from weddings to themed club nights! If you think, you’ve got to shell out a fortune to dance here, be least worried as a singular entry costs roughly around $165 or 11,000 Rupees (depends upon the dollar conversion rate.)

La Fira, Spain (Unique Theme)

Partying at La Fira is not likely to feel anything less than a carnival ride. Situated in the Catalan city of Barcelona, the club is well adorned with festive-antique furniture. Thus, your chair may be a merry-go-round seat or a bumper car! The eyeball grabbing feature is its bar, designed in an old fashion from where timeworn champagne flows at demand along with other beverages. The reflective surfaces there are of the kind you’d expect at the house of mirrors. The staff is responsible for organising regular theme nights and setting the dance floor on fire with dozens of fun activities! Getting a feel of just dancing and listening to the music here is definitely a festival in itself.

Cavalli, United Arab Emirates (Unique Decor)

Fashion unites with unparalleled dance experience at The Cavalli nightclub, carved in the Fairmont Tower hotel, which expands across three floors. Rumoured to be the best club in Dubai, the designer nightclub was launched by the legendary fashioner, Roberto Cavalli himself. The drinks supply is managed by an award winning bar team which blends experience and creativity to create a wonderful mix of variety cocktails. In addition, the restaurant is open to an international cuisine menu, served to you in leopard print chairs under a sky built of 356,000 Swarovski crystals and waterfalls bearing the inimitable Roberto Cavalli signature. The walls also showcase a selection of high-end couture designs by its inceptor. Anyway, it is no stroke that it attracts some of the biggest music brands here, including the EDM legend, Fedd Le Grand and pop sensations like Jeremih!

Skye, Brazil (Unique View)

Skye lives up to its name and finds itself on the rooftop of Hotel Unique, famous for its futuristic architecture. The guests at the nightclub are offered an uninterrupted surreal view of the entire horizon, as there are no railings or walls to block the view! If you think you’ll have to compromise on DJ’s tunes while in the pool with bikini babes, don’t worry as there’re speakers under the water! The doors are open 24 hours a day, although non-hotel guests can only enter during specific hours. Entry route through a panoramic lift, the Skye has an engaging atmosphere with mouth watering meals, glassy walls and ludicrous DJ sounds all through the night!

Berghain Panorama Bar, Berlin (Unique Club Policy)

This featured item is a different one from all others as they follow a rare door policy. The experience of world famous DJ sounds becomes all the more special, thanks to the restriction on bringing in mobile phones into the club. The sound system is enough to turn a patient crowd into wild party animals who can dance all night! The club is located in a former power plant and the building is distinguished by its minimalist design and massive dimensions, which accommodate an 18-meter high dance floor and space for 1500 guests! The club houses a “cavernous” main room, as well as an upstairs space called the “Panorama Bar,” which is decorated by a number of huge Wolfgang Tillmans photographs alongside tall windows with a view of East Berlin.

Guacara Taina, Dominican Republic (Unique Ecosystem)

Simply known as The Cave, this nightclub is situated in a cave (not surprising though) which, give or take, is a million years old. The entrance is at the street level, but after 60 feet it quickly goes down to three dug-out dance areas of capacity 3,000, which are uncommonly placed in natural crevices of the earth’s crust. The breathtaking feature is the natural superior acoustics that the place provides that allows ravers to really feel the music! DJs are the norm, but a live band mixes it up once a month, with genres shifting from Dominican merengue music to international pop. During the peak season, visitors enjoy a one-hour folkloric show on Friday nights. Complete with stalactites and a batty atmosphere, this good-time grotto doubles as a subterranean disco.

OMNIA, Nevada (Unique Dance Floor)

Las Vegas got 99 clubs but Omnia is THE one!

(99 was just a humble estimation anyway)

Voted “Best New Nightclub” by Las Vegas Review Journal, the three-level venue covers 75,000 sq. ft. and includes an outdoor terrace inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Shakespeare’s play, with a wide panoramic view of the Strip. The main attraction here isn’t the ridiculously high-paid DJs like Calvin Harris and Afrojack, it’s the 22,000 pound high-tech chandelier that is made from eight oval rings which hangs over the main room of the club and moves at four feet per second in sync with the music!

Hakkasan Group makes the most of modern day technology with its liquid-crystal display screens that react to people walking, a state of the art air conditioning system which works throughout the entire venue to keep your drinks cold while minimizing sweat on the dance floor! Plus, OMNIA is the only club in Vegas with L-Acoustics sound technology which means, even the most monotonous boom-boom-boom dance music can now be heard crystal clear along with inset lighting in glass floor tiles pulsing to the beat from the LED-laced DJ booth!

ZOUK, Singapore (Unique Nights)

As per Wikipedia, the club is named after the French Creole word for ‘party’ and boy, it does live up to its name! As the largest club in the complex with its pristine white-washed walls, customised Gary Stewart analog sound system, futuristic lighting, sprawling multi-level dance floor, pockets of bars and a capacity of over 1,500, the main Zouk room regularly hosts international guest DJs, live performances, fashion shows, fringe art events, short film screenings and exhibitions.

Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, Spain (Unique Rooms)

For EDM addicts, The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel is the ultimate destination for those who come to Ibiza for the best beach & pool parties! Everything at the club orbits around a spectacular stage where every season the best DJs including the likes of David Guetta, Axwell, Ingrosso, Avicii, Martin Garrix, Oliver Heldens play! A space full of energy and good vibes, the 234 luxurious rooms and suites of The Ushuaïa Club are distributed around the most celebrated pool and stage of the island where you can enjoy the party from the terrace of your room or the dance floor in company with all those who don’t mind sweating together. The management offers ten categories of luxurious rooms and a special non-stop party suite: The Pioneer Suite, which comes with a complete music system, including mixer, amp and subwoofer! In 2015 it was ranked 9th on DJ Magazine’s list having a capacity of 4000 people, making Ushuaïa one of the biggest clubs in Ibiza or in the world for that matter!

Club Cubana, India (Unique: GOA!)

Its website describes Cubana as the “Night club in the sky.” Well, it isn’t a marketing gimmick! Anyone who’s ever been to Goa has visited Club Cubana at least once. The first thing that catches your attention is the “out of the world” location and the uber cool setting of the discotheque amongst the treetops, under a starlit sky. The interiors are completed by the mind-blowing decor and a very vibrant yet calming ambiance of the place which is almost-always accentuated by B-town models and other celebrities! The friendly management staff can be seen everywhere around the poolside bar, the clubbing area, lounge and the main bar. A whole floor with a small separate “Women’s only” area, is dedicated for people to dance to tunes of world renowned DJs while getting high!

We penned down only thirteen brands, because a top-ten list is too common! However, you guys can help us complete it with your suggestions!
