10 Triumphant Returns to Look Forward to in 2016

Posted at January 5th, 2016 | by Shivani Goel | in

As almost every year is, 2015 has seen some great comebacks and new releases; from stellar albums by artists like The Weeknd, Drake, and Bjork, to revival of artists like Janet Jackson and Blur after long hiatuses. Now the grapevine is churning out news of bands and artists returning after a few years, and here are some that we are really looking forward to:

This Britpop sensation imploded in 2009 when band members Liam and Noel Gallagher went their separate ways after a famous fall out at V Festival. Now there are talks of a lucrative reunion.

The Gorillaz

This legendary virtual band hasn’t released an album since 2010 and now co-founder Damon Albarn has announced work on a new album.

Guns & Roses

Since their last show in 1993, fans have been vying for this legendary rock band to get back together. Slash and Axl Rose have apparently put aside their famous feuding to talk about touring in 2016.

The xx

They have been quiet since their second studio album and tour in 2012. Now this English alternative-indie-dance-pop band will most likely return next year with their third album.

LCD Soundsystem

After a decade of playing, they broke up in 2011 post a big blowout concert. Now they plan on coming back in 2016 with touring dates and festival performances.

Swedish House Mafia

EDM lovers rejoice as the rumor mill is churning with news of a possible SHM reunion in 2016. It’s just been two years, but this magical trio is really missed on the dance music scene.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

This dynamic duo released ‘The Heist’ in 2012 with their hit number ‘Thrift Shop’. Their next album was supposed to be released in 2015, but has now been postponed to next year.

They have been performing but we haven’t had a new Metallica album since 2011. Guitarist Kirk Hammett has suggested that 2016 will see their latest album release.

A unique band, their last album was in 2011. They have been working on new material since 2014, and are confident of a new album release in 2016.

Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor recently announced that NIN would be releasing an album in 2016 after a three-year wait. This will also likely be accompanied with an album launch tour.
