10 Handpicked sets from EDC Las Vegas 2015

Posted at June 29th, 2015 | by Sidhantha Jain | in

As attendees from around the world plunged back to reality after witnessing over 200 artists perform across eight stages at EDC Las Vegas 2015, we realized the best way to re-live or just live the magic was through recorded live sets. We’ve rounded up our favourite live sets from the festival into one convenient place. You’re welcome.

  1. Armin van Buuren

Mr. Buuren’s initial set was designed for the main stage with heavy, electro-tinged trance tunes. As is Armin’s trademark, he built up his set to some serious uplifting stuff, including his latest remix of Calvin Harris’s Outside,  which is incredible on two levels, because you can start a sing-along to it, dance n’ jump to reach a state of trance!

  1. Kaskade

Kaskade delivered one of the most splendid performances of the entire weekend. Full-throated with vocal originals like “Atmosphere” and “A Little More” coupled with his monstrous remix of Galantis’ “Runaway” and unheard mashups, his set as huge as his audience!

  1. Above and Beyond

Above & Beyond’s set was special at various levels, thanks to an orgasmic mix of upcoming bangers, new mashups and tracks from ‘We’re all we need’. However, the highlight of the show was surprise arrival of Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston (Walter White), who pressed the button for the drop in their track named after him and a Father’s day presentation slideshow at the end!

  1. Carnage

Banger after banger after banger, Carnage had the crowd going nuts!  But soon Diplo tagged along to drop a lot of booty into their post-apocalyptic twerk party, moving across trap and hard dance!

  1. Krewella

Ever since the two Yousaf sisters split with Rainman, they have taken a “rock n’ rave” direction towards a more involved live show with live band performances. It was nice to see a drum set and a guitar on stage being used while Jahan and Yasmine took turns singing their verses.

  1. Hardwell

Hardwell as always did not waste the opportunity to show off a few of the unreleased tracks he has stored away in his treasure chest. Known for his high-energy, big-room sounds, the revealed boss gave fans a chance to hear a Hip-Hop and Moombahton influenced live set this time.

  1. Andrew Rayel

This 22-year-old trance guy has been one of genre’s new favourite and his Circuit Grounds performance showed exactly why! Often called ‘the new Armin van Buuren’, Rayel showcased his talent in the form of high energy trance synths over booming bass. For us the focal point was the super mashup of Poseidon, Heroes, Rave After Rave, Sun & Moon at around the 47 minute mark!

  1. DJ Snake

Turn Down for What” and “Lean On” sounded best on DJ Snake’s live set! With already three singles on the Billboard Hot 100 this man has achieved more success than most producer/DJs and his energy could be seen in this enthusiastic set. Towards the end of his show he dropped a Skrillex inspired dubstep masterpiece which we wish releases soon!

  1. Eric Prydz

The progressive house king took to the decks for a late-night performance with massive tunes ranging from Generate akin chart toppers to “work in progress” titles at the moment. Various IDs worked as a hype catalyst for his forthcoming debut album due this year.

  1. Martin Garrix

The Dutch prodigy performed at the Kinetic Field stage to only show off his love for intense electro synth-stuff. His live set featured his familiar “Animals” and “Gold Skies” followed by new vocal tunes and a “Don’t Look Down” rework.
