As soon as The Chainsmokers got done with Closer it was breaking records left, right, and centre. It was #1 on the Hot 100 Billboard chart for 12 consecutive weeks and essentially set them up as pop icons forever. It’s the longest leading Hot 100 track by a duo for the last 12 years.

Closer knocked hits like Don’t you worry child and Hey Brother off their perch and now it will have spent the most time in the Hot 100’s Top 5; for the 26th straight week. It surpassed Uptown Funk. And to have a dance music track break all these records just makes them trailblazers of our time.

And if that wasn’t enough, according to Billboard, Closer also holds the record for most weeks in the Hot 100’s Top 10 from a title’s debut and has recollected 29 weeks on the Top 10 since it’s arrival.
