Hari & Sukhmani‘s unique brand of sound combines Punjabi folk music with new age electronica, all bound together by their gorgeous vocals. They’ve released some truly brilliant tracks before, a lot of them being remakes of age-old legendary traditional tracks. Their latest offering is called Promises, “A song about unrequited love. It talks about a person who calls on their beloved to make good on the promises that proved to be empty.”

Sukhmani Malik‘s voice has moulded the familiar lyrics in a remake that you’d feel is exactly what the song needed. Hari also lends a hand with the lyrics, adding the countering male element to the song. Mellow, comforting, and easy-listening; if you like their previous music, you’ll definitely love this!

The track is a remake of Yamla Jatt‘s track ‘tere ni karara mainu patiya’, which has seen many versions over the years. It’s seen many covers over the years, but this is definitely our favourite!
